Description

Enterprise-Class Performance with the Right Capabilities at a Competitive Price
CloudSpeed Extreme™ SATA SSDs are designed specifically for write-intensive application workloads such as, high performance computing (HPC), database logging and database and data warehousing that need the highest levels of performance and reliability. Examples include financial applications and databases associated with workloads that are time-sensitive and produce results that are critical to the businesses they support.

High Performance Computing (HPC)
High-performance computing workloads consist of high-volume processing of large datasets which greatly benefit from flash technology. HPC includes engineering and data-intensive workloads like seismic analysis, oil and gas exploration, weather forecasting, and market simulations. Flash storage SSDs help each server’s application in an HPC cluster work more effectively and protect data as it is generated by scale-out applications across the cluster.

Database Logging
Database logging is a write-intensive workload that allows customers to recover from failures by helping to connect primary and secondary databases. These database logs keep records of all database changes as transactions are updated, and they roll data forward to the point of failure. In cases of unplanned downtime, databases can be restored to a point beyond the last full, offline back-up, because they preserve the last in-flight transactions.

Databases and Data Warehousing
Database workloads require fast and accurate writes to disk, as well as easy access to the stored data. SanDisk CloudSpeed Extreme SSDs support database workloads, even in virtualized computing environments. This is important because many IT organizations are consolidating database workloads to run on fewer physical servers, resulting in more efficient infrastructures that host business workloads in less data center space, and require less power and cooling. By hosting more virtual machines (VMs) per physical server, customers reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) and increase return on investment (ROI) for new server deployments that have SSDs, compared with hard-disk (HDD) deployments.
