Meet the SonicWall SonicWave 681 Wi-Fi 6 access point. It uses 802.11ax. This is the most advanced technology of its’ kind available. The SonicWave 681 is cloud-managed using SonicWall’s Wireless Network Manager. This firewall offers a number of cool features that provide a really nice experience.

Performance of the SonicWave 681
As already stated, the SonicWave 681 Wi-Fi 6 access point utilizes 802.11ax technology. This improves performance in high-density environments (read more about Wi-Fi 6 here). Plus, the use of 1024 QAM allows more data to pass through. And, 802.11ax provides enhancements in MU-MIMO, with both uplink and downlink capabilities.
Additionally, 802.11ax works in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. This means latency is reduced by 75%. The result is overall throughput improvement of up to 400%, with nominal data rate improvement of 37% compared to 802.11ac Wave 2.
It is a wireless 8×8:8 MU-MIMO access point, that can easily handle 150 or more clients per radio, and probably more. The 681 has 12 internal antennas, and 1 x 5GbE ethernet interfaces.

And not only are processor speeds faster, but beamforming allows for a more direct connection that is faster and more reliable. Improved power control methods help to avoid interference with nearby networks, making for a better experience. And Target Wake Time management helps preserve battery life in mobile devices.
The SonicWave 681 includes a separate radio dedicated to security, which performs rogue AP detection, passive scanning and packet capturing. SonicWave access points also feature zero-wait DFS. This identifies and avoids interference with radar systems. It also eliminates the wait associated with being booted from one DFS channel and finding another to connect with.
It’s also important to note that the access points aren’t simply traffic cops; they also provide deep-packet-inspection scanning of encrypted traffic. Because the SonicWave 641 operates on the 802.11ax standard, it provides unparalleled performance, security and power management. It’s ideal for high-density environments, and is managed via the cloud using SonicWall’s Wireless Network Manager.
