The Cradlepoint AER1600 industrial wireless 4G router is an enterprise-level solution in Cradlepoint’s AER line.
It comes in several different configurations with embedded and plug-in modems available.In addition to the LP4 Cat 4 modem version featured here, the Cradlepoint AER1600 is also offered with an LP6 (LTE – A Cat 6 capable) modem. This version supports most North American carriers.
Basically, this device offers the same advanced LTE-A modem as the AER2200. However, it lacks the same internal space to add an optional second LTE modem. Plus, it has fewer ethernet ports than its bigger brother. The AER1600 gives you the ability to intelligently manage converged wired and wireless connectivity for a highly available “connected experience” at the Edge.
The 1600’s WAN Connectivity is 4G Cat 6/Cat 4 (depending on the option you choose), and LAN Connectivity is Wi-Fi 4 with 2×2 MIMO support. Its Category 6 LTE modem offers 300 Mbps download speeds, and 50 Mbps upload speeds. The Category 4 version delivers 150 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload speeds. It has 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
NetCloud IoT Package
The Cradlepoint AER1600 comes as a package with NetCloud. This is a secure networking plan built for Internet of Things and machine-to-machine uses. Basically, it’s similar to the bundles that firewalls often come with. In a nutshell, this cloud service adds greatly to the features and capabilities of your router. For example, NetCloud offers secure cloud management and control of your 1600. NetCloud is available in one, three, and five-year subscriptions. These include 24×7 support.
