We’re going to step out of the SMB world a bit now to look at the SonicWall NSa 2700. The cutting-edge SonicWall NSa 2700 is designed for medium to large enterprises. It has industry-validated security effectiveness, and can support up to 32 access points. It delivers 5.5 Gbps firewall inspection throughput and 3 Gbps of threat Prevention throughput, running SonicWall’s new SonicOS 7.0. This means it can handle all the latest and greatest security and networking features out there. And SonicWall is a vendor known for feature-rich firewalls. It also means it can address the growing trends in web encryption, connected devices and high-speed mobility.
One firewall to guard them all
The average enterprise uses 75 security products to secure their network. That’s a lot of noise and a lot of monitoring and testing for security practitioners.
It’s important to make sure that the security tools not only work but work in harmony with each other. Wouldn’t it be nice to have the option of a single, scalable, do-it-all firewall that can eliminate redundancies that contribute to alert overload? There is a lot of threat intelligence information out there, all of that threat information can be overwhelming. The security sector has long touted defense in depth as the way to thwarting attacks But the reality is that more layers don’t prevent attacks.
All these disparate point products pose challenges of their own. These include management complexity and lack of interoperability. And that in turn leads to an explosion in overall operating costs.
Today’s enterprises need a next-generation firewall that can accommodate the continuing increase in network traffic, at the same time consolidating controls to stop evasive threats.
Enter SonicWall NSa 2700
The NSa 2700 protects mid-size networks with fully-formed security services like malware analysis, encrypted traffic inspection, cloud application security and reputation services. It also supports centralized management.
The SonicWall NSa 2700 also has Reassembly Free Deep Packet Inspection. This offers security analysis of all traffic in real-time. It also offers anti-malware, anti-spyware, and intrusion prevention. Plus, you get anti-spam and protection against incoming email-based threats if you’re configured for it.
There’s also TLS 1.3 support to inspect encrypted traffic, 24×7 support, and Secure SD-WAN.
In addition to multi-layer sandboxing, Real-Time Deep Memory Inspection, and full system emulation, it has virtualization techniques to detect more threats than any single-engine sandbox out there currently. And the low false-positive rate means it won’t block the legitimate business files you need.
The SonicWall NSa 2700 is powered by the feature rich SonicOS 7.0. It a new operating system built from the ground up to deliver a modern user interface, intuitive workflows and user-first design principles. It provides multiple features that facilitate enterprise-level workflows, easy configuration, and simplified and flexible management. And this allows organizations to improve security and efficiency. But at least as importantly, it delivers advanced security, networking, and management capabilities. SonicOS 7.0 also features integrated SD-WAN, TLS 1.3 support, real-time visualization, high-speed VPN and other robust security features. It is capable of processing millions of connections while delivering multi-gigabit threat prevention throughput.
By leveraging Capture ATP with RTDMI technology, in addition to extensive security services, the NSa series firewalls stop malware, ransomware and other advanced threats at the gateway. Some of those other services are Application Intelligence and Control, and Content Filtering Services.
And more features
There are a number of other high-level features that make the SonicWall NSa 2700 an attractive option for medium and distributed enterprises. For example, it has 16 x 1GbE interfaces, and 3 x 10 GbE interfaces. It can reach 3 Gbps of threat prevention throughput, 6 Gbps of application inspection throughput, and 5 million stateful and 500,00 DPI connections, 21,500 connections per second. It also has a dedicated management port.
SonicWall’s cloud-management and sandboxing is a cool feature worth mentioning. When any of the myriad SonicWall devices linked together in the cloud discovers an unknown malware, guess what it does? Shares it with every other SonicWall. So that unknown malware becomes famous to every SonicWall appliance everywhere that’s using the SonicWall Capture Advanced Threat Protection module.
And a big benefit of cloud-based sandboxing is that it’s not limited to one engine. SonicWall uses several of them, so it’s nearly impossible to create malware that could trick all of them.
