The Cradlepoint IBR1700-1200 is sold as a package with a cloud-based plan called NetCloud. It is a secure, cloud-based plan built for IoT and machine-to-machine uses. It’s similar to the bundles that firewalls often come with. This cloud-based service adds greatly to the capabilities of your router.
For example, NetCloud offers secure, cloud-based management and control of your IBR1700. Netcloud is offered in three and five-year software subscriptions that include 24×7 support.
In addition, there’s the option of the Advanced Plan, with NetCloud Perimeter. It provides critical security protocols for IoT networks. Also, it adds remote connect, out-of-band management, advanced VPN and tunneling, and location-based services.
Some cool features of the Cradlepoint IBR1700-1200
Cradlepoint touts the IBR1700 as the world’s first LTE mobile router with three-carrier aggregation. This delivers outstanding performance with an embedded LTE Advanced 600 Mbps modem. The IBR1700 also offers five Gigabit Ethernet ports and three-radio Gigabit Wave 2 ac.
Is is field-upgradable with 2nd modem (second wireless carrier) for continuous connectivity. It has an MC400 slot. Additionally, it has a precision GPS with dead-reckoning, enabling location-based applications.
Performance of the IBR1700
The Cradlepoint IBR1700’s WAN connectivity is 4G Cat 11 or Cat 18, GbE. LAN connectivity is Wi-Fi 5, GbE. It’s embedded Category 1 LTE modem offers 1200 Mbps download speeds. Maximum throughput is 950 Mbps. It has 802.11ac Wi-Fi, as well as LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation of 2x 20MHz, and 2×2 MIMO. Lastly, it has Firewall Throughput of 940 Mbps.
