ESET is a highly economical, effective, and easy-to-use overall security package. It’s getting a lot of really good independent reviews lately. It comes in a couple of flavors; ESET’s Endpoint Protection Standard and Advanced. You can read more about ESET Endpoint Protection here.
ESET’s Endpoint Protection Standard is aimed at small and medium-sized businesses. It combines their highly popular antivirus solution along with its security product.
How is ESET Advanced different from ESET Standard?
ESET Advanced is a bundled security including firewall, antispam and Web filtering. On top of ESET Endpoint Protection Standard, the Advanced version comes with the additional and powerful Web Control, Firewall and Anti-Spam filters. These simply provide additional layers of protection.
Antispam is software designed to block unwanted or unsolicited emails from being opened or received.
It uses various means to detect unwanted messages such as whitelists, blacklists, address lists, mail reputation authorities and keyword matching. The Antispam engine in various ESET products assigns a spam score to each email message it scans. Then, it uses that score to determine the course of action. For example, to deliver the email, send it to the junk folder, etc.
Web Filtering allows you to configure automated tools to protect workstations. Plus, you can set restrictions for internet browsing. The aim of the Web control functionality is to prevent access to pages with inappropriate or harmful content.
ESET firewall monitors and controls communication within the local network or internet. The firewall analyzes communication activities using predefined rules. Then, it uses the rules to decide which traffic to allow or block.
Overall, both are excellent hosted endpoint protection options for small and midsized companies.
ESET has done an great job at perfecting it’s anti-phishing and anti-malware capabilities. ESET’s engine is well versed against the latest malware threats. It has also proven highly effective against vulnerability threats, active attacker scenarios, and encoded exploits.
